Bird Cage MDF Hanging Plaque.

Hi there,

I have been looking back through my files to find something to share with you tonight.  In June 2013   I made quite a few MDF hanging plaques, this MDF charm kit from Imagination Crafts includes the main frame, back and front with an aperture and charms, which can be used to decorate it.

I painted the front of the MDF frame with Jet black and Sandstone MDF paint.   I then laid the birdcage stencil onto the painted frame and spread the gunmetal Sparkle Medium over the stencil, using a metal spatula, onto the sandstone side.   I then spread the mink Sparkle Medium on the black side,   then carefully removed the stencil and left the image to dry.

I glued some small blue pearls down the centre of the frame, where the two colours of paint meet.   I then took the birdcage MDF charm and painted it  with the sandstone paint.   The birdcage stencil was laid over the charm and the gunmetal Sparkle Medium was spread through the birdcage image onto the charm. The stencil was then  removed and the image left to dry.   This was then glued over the central aperture with Magi-Bond glue.

Some flowers were glued to the front of the frame and two ribbon bows, one to the top left corner amd one smaller bow to the birdcage.   I coloured a small piece of white card with blue distress ink and put it through a ribbler, then coloured the raised edges with some sandstone paint.   This was then glued behind the aperture on the front frame.

For the back of the plaque, I cut a piece of white card, the same size as the board back, then coloured it with distress inks.    Next I laid the harlequin stencil onto the coloured card and dabbed  some sandstone and jet black MDF paint through the design, removed the stencil and left it to dry.

A lace boder was die-cut from white card, using the Marianne Design die and coloured with distress inks, then glued to the stencilled card.    I then Stamped  the sentiment, using a black ink pad onto the centre of the lace square.  This was then glued to the centre of the back board.   The heart charm was painted with sandstone paint and the vine trellis stencil laid onto it and gunmetal Sparkle Medium spread over the design.   When this was  dry,  I glued it to the bottom left corner of the back of the plaque.

The birdcage hanger charm was painted with jet black MDF paint and the vine trellis stencil laid on top and some Mink Sparkle Medium spread over the design, stencil removed and left to dry.   When dry, this was glued to the top right of the lace square.

I glued the back to the front with Magi-bond glue.   I did not include a ribbon hanger at this point but you could do if you wanted something to hang it by.   Lastly, I added a ribbon bow to the centre top and two flowers.

Hope you   like this, it is not a quick item to make but worth the extra time I think.   This would make a lovely present for a friend, so why not give it a go lol!!

I'll be back again in a couple of days, catch you all then.   Thank you all once again for your visits and lovely comments.

                                                                  Love and rainbows,

                                                                    Hugs   Jennifer xx.
