Acetate Poppy Heads.

Hi there Followers, Friends and Visitors,

Another beautiful day here today, after a damp start.   Autumn is definitely here, the leaves on the  trees are beginning  to turn and the berries on the Rowan trees are a beautiful bright red.   I planted some snowdrops and daffodils in the garden and whilst digging the holes to put them in, I found some peanuts lol!   our beautiful red squirrels must have buried them there!!   Below is a photo of one of our feed boxes just outside our dining room window, we are so lucky to have them in our garden, we do love to watch their antics.      These squirrels are just so  beautiful.     Hope the weather has been good for you too.

Tonight I would like to share a card I made for Sue and Harvey of Imagination Crafts in February this year, for one of their shows  on Hochada T.V.    I do like using acetate on my cards, so I have used it on this card, although it is not readily seen on this photo.   I have used Imagination's beautiful poppy heads Art stamps.  This is one of my favourite stamps.

Fold the ready creased, white scalloped card down the centre crease line, making a 7" x 7" base card on which to work   Using a 1" Rollagraph holder and the 'Zephyr' roller stamp, roll over the black inkpad, then run it along each of the 4 edges of the base card, re-inking each time.

Colour the card with the distress inks, around all four edges of the card, using a blending tool.

Matt a smaller piece of black card onto the base card, followed by a piece of white card.   Put some white card into the X-Cut Square embossing folder and emboss,   cut out the centre square.   Colour the frame with the distress inks, adding a thin layer of the Inca Gold Alchemy Wax to the embossed design.   Put this to one side for the moment.

Take some white card and lay the scalloped shell stencil on top and dab the distress inks through the design.  Remove the stencil and wash and dry it.   Replace the stencil back on the design  and rub some black stars Sparkle Medium over the design using your finger  (foiling technique), this will push the medium to the edges of the design on the stencil.   Remove the stencil and leave to dry.

In the meantime, stamp the poppy heads onto the acetate using a black archival ink pad, then with the black Stazon pad and heat emboss with black embossing powder.

Turn this so the embossed side is on the underneath and glue to the underside of the embossed frame.   Glue this acetate and frame to the stencilled design, gluing only where the glue cannot be seen ie:  on the back of the poppy heads.

Glue the frame to the base card and glue  a black gemstone to each corner of the frame.

Glue a gold ribbon bow to the top of the frame.     That's this card finished, hope you like it.

I will be back again soon with another project.   In the meantime, have a good week, see you all again soon.

                                                                  Love and rainbows,

                                                                    Hugs   Jennifer xx.

    1. Hi Kate many thanks for your lovely comment. A Rollagraph is a holder which holds a rubber stamp and you can roll it over your card. Ink cartridges are available to fit onto them, or you can just use your ink pads. I will take a photograph of mine and put it on my next blog, in a couple of days. so you can actually see one.

    1. Hi again Kate, you're welcome, as you say they are gorgeous little creatures and we get so much pleasure watching them, they cost us a small fortune in peanuts but boy are they worth it lol! We did add some pine kernels in their feeders but they ate the peanuts and left the pine nuts lol! which is just as well as they are quite expensive.

    1. Hi Linda, thanks so much for your lovely comment. I do hope we don't get the grey squirrels here as they carry a disease which affects the reds and they move on. We wouldn't like to lose them, They are just gorgeous little creatures.
      Hugs Jennifer xx.
