'Friendship.'

Good afternoon Followers, Friends and Visitors,

Just like to say thank you for visiting my last blog post.   I do like to hear what your thoughts are on my projects and I do like visiting your blogs to see your beautiful projects too.

Tonight I have a card I made, using pigmented bees wax and a hot iron.   For those of you who may not have heard of this technique, this is called ' encaustic art'   I first did this technique many years ago having purchased a book on this technique by Michael Bossom and I love it.   The good thing about this technique is, that you will never make two cards exactly alike.

Begin by trimming half an inch from one edge of a piece of A4 white linen  card, then fold in half, portrait style to make a base card.

Matt a piece of  lavender card onto it, leaving a quarter  inch border of the white card showing.  Matt a slightly smaller piece of white card onto the lavender.   Take a piece of smooth shiny card and lay on a piece of copy paper to protect your work surface from the iron and hot wax, using the encaustic iron, spread the white,  purple and blue waxes onto the base of the iron,  holding the base of the iron up over, leaving the waxes to melt.

Paint  across the smooth card with the iron, until you are satisfied with the results,  (if you work the waxes too many times with the iron, the colours tend to turn a muddy brown colour).    Leave to dry, then gently polish the surface  with a   soft tissue.   (A sealer can be painted over the surface if you would like to protect the wax from melting with the heat of fingers, sun or scratch marks etc.,)

Matt this onto the base card.

Punch out the flowers from some blue card and the paper you used to protect your work surface from the melted waxes, when you painted your piece of smooth card.    Waste not, want not lol!  besides, it blends in with the background.     Glue a flower to the top right corner and two to the bottom left corner.   Add a little Diamond Sparkle Medium to the petals.

Die-cut the oval frame (a Memory Box Die), from white card and stamp the friends sentiment by Dovecraft onto the left over piece from the oval centre, using a black ink pad.    Glue the frame and the sentiment to the waxed card.

Glue three clear diamond star gems to the card and the card is finished.

Well that's all from me for the moment.   Take care of yourselves and have a fabulous Bank Holiday weekend.

                                                               Love and rainbows,

                                                                Hugs   Jennifer xx.
