I do hope you enjoyed Imagination Craft's show on Create & Craft T.V. recently. when the beautiful Gothic Kingdom Collection was launched. Wow! what a fabulous collection, I really loved working with it. I will be playing with this set a lot I think lol! just love it. Today's card was made using one of the rice papers, castle stamp and stencil, Cadence paints and decoupage glue.
Take an ivory 8" x 8" base card. Cut out the section of rice paper you want to use, keeping the top, bottom and left-hand edges straight and feathering the right-hand edge. (Feather the edge by wetting around the design with a paint brush and water, then gently pulling apart from the main piece of rice paper).
Fix the cut rice paper to the left-hand side of the base card, using Cadence decoupage glue, leaving a small border of the ivory card showing. Add some masking tape along the top, bottom and down the right-hand side of the card, so when the tape is removed after painting the card, you will have a continuous border around the card.
Mix some Cadence Hybrid Acrylic sedona and old lace together on a paint palette and paint across the remainder of the ivory card, blending out towards the edge of the feathered rice paper.
Dry brush small amounts of the Cadence Dora Metallic Zinober paint , on top of the acrylic paint.
Remove the masking tape. Now this is where I have a confession to make lol! as I removed the tape from the base card, I realised that the painted edge was not as perfect as I would have liked.......very frustrating lol! so.....I decided to cut the ivory edes off ! (Well sometimes these things happen and we just have to think around them lol). So after trimming away the edge I kept the back of the original ivory card for another project - waste not want not).
O.K. back on course lol! Lay the spider's web from the stencil in the top right corner of the design and stipple some black starlight paint through the design. Add the moon in the same way but add a little platinum Starlight paint to the moon and the spider.
Shade the edges of this piece of card using black soot distress ink. Matt this onto the ivory base card.
Stamp the castle onto a spare piece white card, using a black ink pad. Colour it with some old lace and hickory smoke distress inks, using a blending tool.
Cut out the castle and fix to the base card using silicone glue.
Cut out the flowers from the rice paper, leaving the bottom edge straight cut and part of the right hand edge straight. Fix this to a piece of white card using the decoupage glue.
Trim away any excess white card and glue this to the bottom right corner of the base card, using silicone glue and the card is finished.
Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by my blog, hope you have enjoyed your visit. Please pop back again soon, when I will have another card to share with you.
Love & Rainbows,
Hugs Jennifer xx.
